A Plan for the Future of Rail

The State Rail Plan (the Plan) is the District Department of Transportation’s plan for the future of passenger and freight rail service in the District.  It is an important step in charting a direction for rail in the District of Columbia for the next 20 to 30 years.

A carefully crafted vision for integrating this passenger and freight rail network is necessary to realize the potential of rail transportation in the District. The District’s rail network is vital for its ongoing development, and strategic investments can position the District for continued growth.

The final State Rail Plan may be downloaded in the library.
